Louise Hay and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

You have to give it to Louise Hay. She is one amazing octagenerian. I came across her in the early 90’s when she (as was I) was working with gay men who were HIV+ and dying of AIDS. It was an amazing time on the planet. A time when some of us dug deep into the well of compassion and where others frightened and scared, fuelled hatred and ignorance. Louise Hay began ‘Hay Ride’ which were workshops where she helped, assisted and supported people into loving themselves. Often working with mirrors, she coached and instructed workshop participants to use affirmations and find some love for themselves. Her work was radical, not understood by many, yet it worked! Louise Hay the Queen of Affirmations.

She also has a book that has sold 50 million copies titled “You Can heal Your Life”. Mine has been on the book shelf for years, and I still drag it off the shelf and refer to it when I want to know the metaphysical answer as to why I have an aching neck, or a sore back or ailment of some kind. Louise’s key message in this powerful work is: “If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed.” Louise explains how limiting beliefs and ideas are often the cause of illness, and how you can change your thinking…and improve the quality of your life! Today, still looking great, Louise Hay proves she is open to trying new healing modalities. This one is known as tapping or EFT ( Emotional Freedom Technique). It is about tapping on the meridian points (energy points)in a systematic way on the upper body and after acknowledging what “the problem or fear ” is, moving through the points, tapping and saying affirmations. Check this out, what an amazing woman!

In case you are wondering, yes, I use tapping myself. There are times I get slack, and other times when I focus on an issue and release the ‘bondage’around it.

There are many healing modalities out there, and I believe they all have their place within our society. I know I use different methods at different times in my life, and whether it be acupuncture, massage, Reiki, EFT, reflexology, aromatherapy, meditation, yoga….the list goes on and on, I believe they each have their benefits on the body, for the body and certainly help reduce mind chatter.
